There’s something wonderfully cool about this little Eros. Crafted in 9ct gold and fully hallmarked in Birmingham in 1975, he stands winged and bow in hand, captured mid-movement on his tiny pedestal – a miniature golden figure with an extraordinary amount of character.

In Greek mythology, Eros was the god of love, desire and attraction, armed with a bow and arrows capable of making gods and mortals fall helplessly in love. The Romans later knew him as Cupid, but Eros is far older, appearing in Greek mythology as a powerful embodiment of the irresistible force that draws people together. It makes him a rather fabulous symbol to wear: love, certainly, but also passion, connection and desire.

And then there’s the charm itself. Look closely at the detail – his wings, tiny bow, outstretched body and wonderfully elaborate little base. The full British hallmarks give him an exact place in time, while the figure he represents reaches back thousands of years.

A tiny golden god of love, made in 1975 and carrying an ancient story. Very, very cool.
