Return & Refund Policy
Golden Girl Au specialises in vintage and pre-owned jewellery. These pieces have had a life before arriving at Golden Girl and may show signs of age, previous wear, patina, previous repairs and other characteristics consistent with vintage jewellery.
I take considerable care to accurately represent the condition of every piece offered for sale.
Before being listed, my pieces are inspected by my jeweller and XRF tested to verify their gold composition. Each piece is individually photographed and described. Any flaws, damage, repairs or significant condition issues identified during inspection are disclosed in the individual listing under Details, with important condition information highlighted in bold.
Every order is personally packed by me before leaving Golden Girl Au.
Please carefully review the complete listing, photographs, measurements, weight, condition information and Details section before purchasing.
Change of Mind
Golden Girl Au does not offer returns, refunds or exchanges for change of mind.
This includes deciding that you no longer like or want the piece, deciding that it does not suit you as expected, finding another piece you prefer, or finding a similar piece elsewhere at a different price.
This change-of-mind policy does not affect any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Vintage, Pre-Owned & Disclosed Condition
Vintage jewellery is not new jewellery and should not be expected to present as new.
When determining whether goods are of acceptable quality under the Australian Consumer Law, relevant circumstances include the nature of the goods, their price and representations made about them. The age, vintage or pre-owned nature and disclosed condition of a Golden Girl Au piece are therefore important considerations.
Signs of age, wear, patina, previous repairs, minor imperfections or other characteristics that have been specifically disclosed in the listing or clearly shown in the photographs form part of the disclosed condition of the piece at the time of sale.
Under the Australian Consumer Law, a consumer is not entitled to a remedy in relation to a problem that was specifically drawn to their attention before purchase. This does not affect the consumer's rights in relation to a separate, undisclosed problem or another failure to comply with an applicable consumer guarantee.
Measurements, Weight, Photography & Colour
All measurements and weights are taken with care but should be regarded as approximate. Minor and reasonable variations can occur because of measuring methods, positioning, equipment and the calibration or sensitivity of individual scales.
Jewellery is necessarily photographed at close range so that its design, craftsmanship, hallmarks and condition can be properly seen. This can make a piece appear significantly larger on a screen than it is in person. Please use the measurements provided under Details when assessing the actual scale of a piece.
Photography, lighting and differences between individual screens can also affect the appearance of colour and tone.
A minor and reasonable variation in measurement or weight, or a difference between the apparent size or colour displayed on a particular screen and the actual piece, does not by itself establish that a piece has been incorrectly described where it otherwise corresponds with the information provided at the time of sale.
If you would like additional photographs, video, measurements or information, please contact me before purchasing.
Consumer Guarantees & Timeframes
There is no fixed period under the Australian Consumer Law during which damage occurring to jewellery is automatically considered to be a fault with the piece.
Consumer guarantees may continue for the reasonable life of a product. What is reasonable depends upon the circumstances, including the nature, age, condition and price of the goods and representations made about them.
Equally, the fact that a piece is damaged or breaks within a particular period after purchase does not, by itself, establish that it was faulty when supplied.
Wear, Care & Customer-Caused Damage
Vintage jewellery must be worn, handled, stored and cared for appropriately, taking into account its age, construction and design.
Golden Girl Au is not responsible for damage caused after delivery by misuse, unreasonable or abnormal use, accident, impact, pulling, catching, crushing, inappropriate wear, negligent handling, improper storage or cleaning, alteration, attempted repair, or repair or modification undertaken by the customer or a third party.
Failure to follow Golden Girl Au's jewellery care guidance does not exclude any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law. However, where the evidence establishes that damage was caused by the way a piece was worn, handled, stored, cleaned or otherwise treated after delivery, rather than by a failure of the piece to comply with an applicable consumer guarantee, Golden Girl Au is not required to provide a remedy for that customer-caused damage.
Deliberately damaging, breaking or altering a piece does not create an entitlement to a refund, replacement or other remedy.
Reporting a Problem
If you believe your piece has arrived damaged, has an undisclosed problem, materially differs from its description or otherwise fails to comply with an Australian Consumer Law consumer guarantee, please contact Golden Girl Au as soon as reasonably possible after discovering the issue.
Please provide your order details together with clear photographs of the piece and reported issue.
Once a problem has been identified, please stop wearing or using the piece. Do not clean, alter, repair or otherwise modify it while the claim is being assessed.
Golden Girl Au reserves the right to inspect and assess the piece before determining whether a remedy is required and, where applicable, which remedy is available under the Australian Consumer Law.
You may be asked to return the piece for assessment. Its condition may be compared with the original listing and photographs, disclosed condition, jeweller's inspection information, XRF testing information and photographs, video, packing records or other condition records made before dispatch.
Where appropriate, I may obtain an independent assessment from a suitably qualified jeweller regarding the nature and likely cause of the reported problem or damage.
Assessment & Remedies
If assessment establishes that the piece fails to comply with an applicable consumer guarantee, Golden Girl Au will provide the remedy required by the Australian Consumer Law.
The remedy available depends upon the circumstances and whether the failure is major or minor. Nothing in this policy limits a consumer's right to choose a refund or replacement where the Australian Consumer Law gives the consumer that choice.
Where required by law, Golden Girl Au will reimburse reasonable return costs.
If assessment establishes that the piece does not have a problem covered by the Australian Consumer Law, including where evidence establishes that damage occurred after delivery through misuse, abnormal or unreasonable use, accident, inappropriate wear, negligent handling, alteration, attempted repair or deliberate damage, Golden Girl Au is not required to provide a refund, replacement, repair or other remedy under the consumer guarantees.
Where permitted by law, if assessment establishes that the piece does not have a problem, the customer may be responsible for reasonable collection and inspection costs. Where applicable, an estimate of those costs will be provided before they are incurred.
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy available under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.
