About
Golden Girl AU was born from a lifelong love affair with antique and vintage jewellery — one that began long before I ever imagined owning a business of my own.
Some of my earliest memories are of my aunt’s hands. They were magnificent. Gold rings seemed to drip from her fingers, stacked without hesitation, worn with confidence and ease. Her daughter was the same — hands full of chunky gold, unapologetic and timeless. I was completely fascinated. Those pieces weren’t just jewellery, they were part of who they were.
In my teens, my dad would take me antique shopping. Back then, I was hunting for silver fob necklaces with vesta boxes, shields and T-bars — exactly what everyone was wearing in the 80s. It makes me smile now, because here we are decades later, still drawn to those same silhouettes. Proof that truly beautiful jewellery never dates.
Like many people, I went through a phase of buying only new pieces from high-end retailers — the kind where you realise you’re paying a large part of the price for the name attached to it. But all the while, my aunt and cousin continued to wear the same chunky gold pieces year after year. And something clicked. Those pieces didn’t age — they evolved. They became smoother, richer, more beautiful. The patina created by years of wear, touch and life gave them a depth no new piece could replicate.
I found myself drawn back to vintage and antique jewellery, especially the bold confidence of the 70s — disco nights, wide flares, chunky platform soles and gold that made a statement. And as I wore these pieces, people began to notice.
“I’ve never seen anything like that before.”
“Where did you get it?”
The answer was simple: you can’t buy jewellery like this at the shopping centre.
The craftsmanship is superior. The weight, the detail, the intricacy of the designs — pieces that literally make me pause, gasp, and turn them over in my hands in quiet appreciation. Jewellery made in a time when skill mattered, when things were built to last, to be worn, loved and lived in.
And so, Golden Girl AU came to life.
This is my invitation to you — to let me curate pieces for your collection. To mark special moments, or simply to buy yourself something that speaks to you. Something to enjoy now, and one day pass down, carrying not just gold value, but the value of your story with it.
I hope you love these pieces as much as I have loved finding them for you.
With love,
Isobel ✨
