At Golden Girl Au, I source vintage jewellery for its beauty, craftsmanship, rarity and character — never simply for how closely its price can be tied to its gold melt value.

Every piece at Golden Girl Au is personally sourced by me. I look for beautiful design, exceptional craftsmanship, rarity, condition, collectability, unusual details, desirable makers and pieces that are becoming increasingly difficult to find. I never buy a piece simply because of its gold weight.

There is also considerable work behind every piece before it reaches you. I source it, research it, have it checked by my jeweller and repaired where necessary, XRF test it, photograph and video it, measure and weigh it, write its listing, manage the website and personally package and send it to its new owner.

My pricing reflects the original cost to Golden Girl Au together with factors including rarity, desirability, craftsmanship, condition, maker, age, design, collectability, sourcing difficulty and the costs involved in preparing and offering that piece for sale.

A beautifully made vintage chain is not simply a number of grams of gold. A rare charm is not valuable only for what would remain if it were melted. The craftsmanship, design and history that turned that gold into something worth preserving are part of its value too.

Many of these pieces have survived for decades precisely because someone before us believed they were worth keeping. To reduce them now to their scrap value misses much of what makes vintage jewellery extraordinary.
