This is such a rare piece!!!!
This isn’t just a pendant… it’s a little piece of nostalgia you can wear.
Kewpie dolls date back to the early 1900s, created as these tiny cherub-like figures meant to bring joy, kindness and a bit of magic into everyday life . They became wildly loved — kept on dressers, carried as good luck charms, gifted between people who meant something to each other. As I write this I don't want to sell her now!!! lol
And now… finding one cast in solid gold? That’s where it becomes something else entirely.
This vintage 9ct solid gold Kewpie pendant holds all of that feeling — that soft sentimentality, that childhood familiarity — but reimagined into something you keep with you forever. It’s rare because these weren’t commonly made in gold… they were toys, fleeting, delicate. Most didn’t last. But this one did!
My grandmother used to buy me one at the Brisbane Ekka each year. I can remember it being attached to a long piece of bamboo stick with a hook on the end. They had different coloured dresses on! Such memories!
It’s the kind of piece that feels personal the second you hold it. A little playful, a little nostalgic, but grounded in something real and lasting. Her chubby little belly sticks out, her little bare bottom behind. Hallmarked on the bottom of her feet.
Not just collectible… but meaningful in a way you can’t quite explain.
Details: 9ct yellow gold (more an antique gold colour). Just over 5g - a solid piece. 3cm including bale. 1cm across and 6mm wide (belly width lol). Rare and collectable. Price reflects rarity.
