There’s a reason antique sterling fob chains never stay around for long. The weight, the links, the attitude — modern reproductions try, but they never quite capture this kind of old-world cool.

This English sterling silver antique fob chain dates to 1924 and features chunky fat curb links with double dog clips and an attached T-bar. Every link carries the lion passant hallmark; the traditional British sterling silver stamp guaranteeing 925 silver purity. The T-bar is further stamped with HB&S, attributed to Birmingham silversmiths Hilliard & Thomason, alongside the date letter “Z” dating the piece to the very end of the Victorian era.

The links have that perfect heavy drape antique chains are known for — substantial without feeling clunky. The attached T-bar could easily be converted into a detachable sliding one if that’s your styling preference. Both dog clips are secure and functional; one appears original to the piece while the second is a well-matched period replacement that blends beautifully.

And unlike heavily oxidised antique silver, this chain has been professionally cleaned and polished back to a bright sterling finish. If you’re searching for dark patina and a heavily aged look, she’s probably not your girl. But if you love antique jewellery that still feels sharp, elevated and incredibly wearable, this is exactly the kind of piece that makes an outfit.

Details: Weighs 53.3g 43.5cm 1.3cm drop to t-bar of 2.5cm. 2 x silver dogclips - one a replacement - both excellent working mechanisms. Polished silver (no patina). Not graduated. Fixed T-bar. Links 7mm wide - dog clips 2cm.
