This is one of those little pieces that feels far more special than its size suggests. Crafted in rich 18ct yellow gold, this vintage Italian puffy heart has a beautiful sunray finish, with deep radiating lines sweeping across its softly rounded form. The result is wonderfully dimensional — every movement reveals another flash of warm gold.

Even better is the maker’s mark. Stamped ★ 645 VI, the heart can be attributed to the Gasparotto workshop of Bassano del Grappa in the province of Vicenza, with this maker’s registration dating from 1971. Vicenza has long been at the heart of Italy’s celebrated gold jewellery industry, making the provenance particularly lovely.

There is something unmistakably Italian about this piece: generous curves, beautifully worked gold and a design that turns a simple heart into something quite sculptural. Puffy hearts are always collectible, but the distinctive sunray detailing, 18ct gold and identifiable Vicenza maker make this one an especially beautiful find.
